Open Enrollment December Deadline Extended for January 1st Coverage
DCHD was notified that the enrollment deadline for Marketplace was extended until December 18, 2024 for January 1st coverage.
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) remains committed to supporting a robust Marketplace Open Enrollment Period so that millions of consumers can obtain high-quality, affordable health care coverage. To support that aim, CMS announced an extension of the deadline to enroll in coverage that begins Jan. 1, 2025, for Marketplace consumers in the 31 states that use HealthCare.gov (Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Delaware, Florida, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, West Virginia, Wisconsin, and Wyoming). These consumers now have an additional three days—until midnight local time Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2024 to secure a full year of coverage for 2025.
Consumers can get help by calling the HealthCare.gov call center at 1-800-318-2596 (TYY: 1-855-889-4325), with assistance available in over 200 languages 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Additionally, consumers can also find a local assister, agent, or broker in their area by visiting HealthCare.gov and selecting the “Find Local Help” option.
Locally, the Health Department also has a Health Promotion Specialist who can help assist community members for free to enroll in the marketplace. During the open enrollment time, absolutely no walk-ins will be accepted as appointments are required.
Marketplace Open Enrollment runs through Jan. 15 on HealthCare.gov. However, Marketplace consumers who enroll after the Dec. 18 extended deadline will have coverage that starts Feb. 1, 2025.
