COVID-19 Mitigation Complaints

The DeKalb County Health Department provides education and guidance to establishments on how to protect the public's health. Routine inspections are conducted to ensure compliance with public health processes and procedures. When complaints are received, DCHD follows-up with the establishment to investigate, educate, and address public health concerns through a 5-step enforcement process.

1. When we receive the initial complaint, the establishment is added to the spreadsheet and an initial phone call is made. If no other complaints are received on the establishment, then the investigation ends at that point.
2. When we receive a subsequent complaint, we move to Step 2 where the complaint is verified by either a site visit conducted by the health department, or a complaint report is forwarded to us from law enforcement. Once non-compliance is verified, an educational letter is sent to the establishment.
3. When subsequent complaints are received a site visit will be conducted and the establishment will be given a written notice of non-compliance and a reasonable opportunity to come into compliance.
4. After the opportunity to come into compliance is given, a re-inspection will be conducted. If compliance is not achieved, the establishment may be ordered to have some or all of the people on the premises disperse.
5. If the establishment does not voluntarily comply in a reasonable time after receiving a verbal and written notice to disperse, the food permit may be pulled and it will be referred to SA for injunction of order to close.

Below is a list of establishments that currently have reached Step 2 in the enforcement process. Establishments that have had the action and have demonstrated compliance for 30 days are removed from this list.
