Vision and Hearing Screening
The Vision & Hearing program services DeKalb County children ages 3 to high school. The purpose is to identify children who may have possible hearing and vision problems and if necessary refer them for diagnosis and treatment. Illinois law mandates that certain children be tested. Each technician in the program is certified by the Illinois Department of Public Health.
Who Can Receive Services?
- Target Audience: ages 3-5 years old, enrolled in a DeKalb County daycare or preschool.
- School-age children are screened as requested by the school for a fee. This screening does not replace an exam by the eye doctor or audiologist.
- Health Department may be contacted to provide screenings in private and public-school districts.
